This show, originally called Nothing But
Pleasure was written and performed by David, with David Paul Jones at the
piano, was about his, and many other people's, reaction to the news that Princess
Diana had been tragically killed in a car accident. What were you doing at
the time? No this is not the finger pointing at you, but the same question
that is generally asked about when Kennedy was shot.
What WERE you doing? Probably sleeping
like I was, as the accident occured in France late in the evening, and it
wasn't until the next morning (and late that morning as it was a Sunday) that
I heard the news. First of all there were reports that Diana was injured,
but had been seen dazed and confused around the mangled car, then later on,
she was critical, but stable. It wasn't until much later in the morning, by
which time all television and radio schedules had been abandoned, that the
nation heard the horrific truth, that Diana, Princess of Wales, was dead.
This show not only was performed here in the UK, but also in Sydney, Australia (where they were more abreast of the news as it was in the middle of the day to them).
